a project lead by Brad Weber (drummer for caribou) which he uses the moniker Pick a Piper for two projects one is more of an organic electronic music project made up of friends and guest singers and the other one he uses while he djs. His Sets are usually themed with combination of afro-beats, obscure funk, and 80s disco. Brad Weber was excited to join us in supporting our Movember initiative and we have included 3 of his dj sets for you to enjoy today. brad "I'm really happy that Movember has been such a successful prostate cancer iniative. My dad had prostate cancer a few years ago and luckily beat it. I hope the continuing popularity of Movember will allow all others affected to do the same!"  




Men's health and why Movember is Important
  • The average life expectancy for men is five years less than woman. (78 years compared to 83)
  • 1 in 5 canadians will experience an anxiety disorder during their lifetime
  • the male suicide rate is 4 times higher than that of woman
  • 2 in 5 men will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime
  • 1 in 7 men in Canada will develop prostate cancer. 26500 new cases will be diagnosed in Canada this year alone.
  • Close to 4000 Canadian Men die of prostate cancer annually
Impact of Awareness  and how Movember is Changing attitudes and actions of participants?
  • 9 in 10 participants spent time thinking about improving their general health during Movember
  • 8 in 10 participants visited a doctor in the 12 months following Movember
  • 7 in 10 participants dicussed men's health with their family friends or collegues during Movember
  • 6 in 10 participants cited prostate cancer as the first issue that comes to mind when thinking of men's health
  • 1 in 2 participants carried our personal research on men's health issues during Movember
  • 1 in 2 participants understand that their health depends on how well they take care of themselves.
