Zahed Sultan is an alternative / electronic artist from Kuwait who has a unique sound influenced by his culture.
“Like This (ha-ka-tha)” pay tribute to the social frustrations that have plagued the MENA region prior to the Arab Spring. In the song, using classical spoken-word Arabic, Zahed calls upon the Arab people to stand in unity, against tyranny, with a sense of civic pride. In the music video, Zahed gives a gripping account of the revolutions as they sequentially unfold in each Arab country through use of raw-footage (filmed by protestors with cell-phones) and stop-motion animation.
Although revolutions do take place, they must be founded on worthy principles with the intent to achieve peace. Sadly many revolutions only shift power to those who are in positions to take it. Lets hope that this change in the middle-east will benefit the people who are in need of the change. Zahed Sultan contribution to electronic music will also encourage other musicians in and around the middle-east to join in and celebrate our passions for music.
